French press works great. I'll try the pitcher/strainer idea for bigger batches.

I use 2 cups coarse ground coffee steeped in 8 cups of water - steep for 12-14 hours, filter through a fine-mesh strainer and a paper towel. I only use ice cubes to dilute and a splash of heavy cream.
