Yup -- he works at a non-profit. I'm not rolling in it either, as I work for the federal gov't, but I'm definitely the breadwinner.

We own a home and can pay for everything we need. Our kids won't go to prep school but hopefully we'll be able to fund their college educations.

Life with my DH is everything I ever could have hoped for. Every day I'm lucky to have him in my life. There's no way a man who earned more money could make me happier.

My teaching salary is just under 75K. I support two DD on that and $3,000 CS for the kid who still a minor. The older one is in college and her father doesn't contribute to her tuition or living costs.

My fiance also teaches and brings in just under 80k. He voluntarily pays college tuition for his stepson from his first marriage and that'll go one another two years.

For 4 people in MoCo, this isn't a lot of money. So we can't afford to buy a house in this county and drive old cars. Still, we know that we're blessed. I grew up REALLY poor and a lot of our current neighbors are on public assistance or working multiple jobs. I don't need a lot of material things to be happy. It would be nice to have some savings beyond retirement and emergency fund. I'd love a weekend at the beach, even in a slightly rundown motel.

What about you? I always knew I would make more than my husband, and I was fine with it. It I wasn't happy with our income, I would work harder to fix it.

We're both teachers and both have maxed out what we can earn for additional degrees, etc. Post-divorce, I used to earn additional money tutoring, running after school clubs, etc. but I've had a slew of health issues the past three years and had to stop. That said, I'm far happier with my "poor guy" than I was with the "rich boy" I married in my twenties. My fiancee and I have the same priorities when it comes to finances. He's debt free. I have student loans. But neither of us wants to finance a middle class lifestyle through credit cards. Luckily, sex is free!
