I think you can get a dozen this week at CVS for $1.69. If you don't buy cage free (sorry, too expensive for me), you can still score a dozen for under $2. Harris Teeter has a good sale every few weeks, especially for e-Vic.

In Maryland, some chicken handling rules are going into effect, this week, I think. I only know this because the MoCo fair could exhibit chickens, but if any later in the month, they wouldn't have been able to do so. Anyway, I think you may see some increase in prices because of this. Don't know.

I agree that even expensive eggs are a cheap source of protein that the whole family will eat.

No complaints here. I happily buy mine from local pasture farms for $5 per dozen. No change. Try them -- once you do, you won't go back to crap eggland's best-type eggs.

I seriously can't get people griping over a dollar or two increase on such a cheap source of nutrition. $5 provides high-quality protein for two meals for my family. What else does that?

The eggs are on sale this week at CVS for $1.69dz. They are also $2.39 dz at Aldi all the time.

Why aren't you buying local grain fed free range organic?

I pay $4 for cage free eggs at Giant. This is less than I pay for a frappachino.
It seems to me the only ones that went up are the ones from factory farmed birds, kept in cages, that then got sick.
Less than $5 is really not a lot to pay for a dozen eggs.

I love how people are astonished at the price of a dozen eggs, but wouldn't hesitate to spend that same amount on a venti frappucino.

I think most of the chicken we eat around here comes from the Delmarva peninsula and they haven't had the epidemic that they had in the midwest. Also, since the chickens are butchered at 6-8 weeks old, it doesn't take long to recover if they did lose a batch of them.

That sounds pretty awesome. I don't know that I'd actually want to even if I could though. But my grandparents had ducks when I was a kid and I think I remember them cooking the eggs for us.

I noticed that safeway eggs are super expensive compared to other places like giant, Wegman's and Costco. I avoid safeway because it tends to have higher prices on the things I buy.

But yeah, if you use a ton of eggs, try Costco. They have better prices.
