How did you know that they were cheating?
Because they lied about their relationship status. If you are married or otherwise attached, but on there to find AP you should say that early on, not state outright that you are free and available and interested in meeting someone you could have a longterm relationship with.

In part, I don't use Tinder because of the FB tie-in. I don't use FB, and will not be setting up an account.
Question for 00:04: I'm not disagreeing with your general assertion, but my take-away from your posting is that we "olders" shouldn't have any problem finding a like-minded hook-up, in the absence of such an app.
Do you have a particular method you employ, when the hook-up desire strikes? If so, might you share this method with the less successful/unenlightened, among us?

Yes and you'd have to use it from a separate Facebook acct if you don't want to get caught because the algorithm is designed to have your profile pop up in friends-of-friends searches pretty often. it doesn't show up on your Facebook but if your spouse has a fb friend with whom you're not fb friends, you will show up on their tinder feed. I signed up with no intention of cheating to see what my single friends were so into and was mortified to see some of dh's married friends on there!! It means they could possibly come across me too so I go rid of it!
I have heard about this, but I find it incredible that people do this nonetheless... how do their spouses not know?

35, f, never married. Had tried Match and OKCupid with varying degrees of luck. Signed up for Tinder on a night out with a girlfriend, as a lark - she'd been bugging me to get on it for awhile just to play the "Tinder Game." Deactivated as I left the bar that night. Reactivated a few weeks later. Wound up on dates with 3 different guys. None even tried to hook up. All were real dates. One guy I saw only once, we weren't compatible. The other two, I dated at the same time until I chose one. The guy I didn't choose I went on 5 dates with. The one I did choose, I've been dating for a couple of months. I did not have sex before exclusivity. They guy who is now my boyfriend also had an account at the time on EHarmony. People will look at other sites when the ones they are on aren't working.
Everyone's experiences will vary, but I found just as many men in their 30s and 40s looking for legitimate dates on Tinder as I did on the other sites. Sure, I got explicit messages, but I got them on the other sites too, and just ceased the conversation then. If you conduct yourself geared to what you want to find (e.g. casual sex, or a relationship) and don't entertain people who are obviously angling for something other than what you want, Tinder can be an option for those looking for relationships, too.
