+1

Small, short, frequent shopping. I waste less time wandering around "do I really need that" and just get what's needed on each trip.

Although, being <4 blocks from 2 major grocery stories does help a lot.

Plan meals
Make a list, organized by aisle
Go to a mainline grocery store that has everything you need - whether that's Harris Teeter, Giant, or Walmart

I like the idea of delivery but am never pleased when I do it. I spend way more time navigating websites, and then half the time am displeased with the quality of the fresh goods or they are out of a key thing I need so I have to go to the store anyway.

It's old school, but I haven't found a better or more efficient way. Not familiar with Instacart.

There's a fairly new organic delivery service that originated in LA called Thrive Market. Haven't tried them yet but plan to.

They're supposed to be a cross between Costco and WF because its a membership-based and they sell only organic products. Also their prices are a lot lower than you'd expect.

Also, "for every paid membership, they match that by providing a membership to a low-income family who might not otherwise have access to wholesome convenient food. Additionally, they support GMO labeling, and are committed to sustainability by being carbon neutral and using recycled packaging".

Here's a recent review of their service:

Go to the grocery store. You spend more time fooling around with Peapod and Amazon.

If you have a Walmart Super-store in your town, I strongly suggest visiting one.

That way you can get your groceries and sundries in one visit.

I discourage you from purchasing sundries in a grocery store, the prices are much higher.

Laundry detergent and toilet paper are okay, but definitely do not buy shampoo and toothpaste there.

I love the handheld scanner at Giant...most of the time. Other than that, we order from Amazon.com. I also like Costco for certain products.

I guess I'm weird because I grocery shop every other day. I buy lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and it just works out better to keep spoilage down to a minimum.

Amazon for beauty products, things like toothpaste, etc.

I plan out meals, make a list and go grocery shopping once a week. A planned list makes it so much quicker. I go to the same store so I know where everything is.

I use a combination of Amazon, Google Express, and Instacart. Google Express for all non-perishable Costco goods (they have the same price as in store), Amazon for household items I can't get at Costco, and Instacart for perishable items. About once a month we go on a quick grocery trip.
