Wrong .. Plenty of kids smoke hookah and never touch cigarettes

Though I'm not necessarily saying it is safe

Not getting the hookah reference. Plenty of nicotine there.

Hookah and vaping can be pretty much the same thing. Lots of tobacco free / nicotine free fruit flavors to choose from. It's very common in the middle east and even England.

Hookah uses tobacco. That's why I don't get the reference.

The nicotine is regulated so is not readily available to kids/teens.

Well that's fine. And if my kids choose to do that as adults what can I do about it? Nothing. But as teens - no way.

I wouldn't assume it's harmless to inhale something, just because it's a food-grade flavor. Remember the connection between the butter flavor for microwave popcorn and lung disease? It basically isn't a good idea to inhale anything into your lungs except air.

^^^^^
I can't speak for college kids but HS kids with a little disposable income are going for the experience of inhaling their DR Pepper scent versus drinking it. I think the novelty factor is driving this.
