Yep, I've posted this before but not in a few months. It's true. Why does this get people so annoyed?
Because you're wrong - it's not "fact". There are several full day programs in the area with "preschool" or "school" in the name, many of them are NAEYC accredited preschools.

Well when you sign up for the damn thing they call the 2 year old classroom and up preschool or discovery preschool or whatever. we just shorten it to school. We do not care what you think lady. We are not trying to pretend our kid is at Harvard. They learned triangles and that's enough. Why does this bother you??

In that case, why do you send your 2 or 3 year old to half day preschool? Are you getting my point? It's just a weird argument for people to be making. Why do you care whether it's called daycare or preschool regardless of the time the child is being spent there? Clearly it's not actually school, my 2 year old isn't sitting at a desk doing math all day. Come on!!

I just posted on that thread about my confusion with the question, I had to read a couple of times to figure out what OP was talking about. Preschool is half day or part time, daycare is full day care for working parents or children that need care all day.
It is a bit much when someone claims their 6 month old just got dropped off at "the best" school and is learning so much.
Honest question - why isn't your precious little preschool just called half-daycare?
Well, it's 2 days per week for 2 1/2 hours per day. The math on that would probably add to the confusion, not help. I think preschool or daycare takes care of which service we are talking about much better.

I teach in a half day preschool and my kids attended half day preschools.
Who cares if daycare families call it school or not? My niece is in full time daycare and she does wonderful Art projects, has circle time, music days, just like our preschool, but her day is longer. Why do you care what it's called?

I think I will call it this, but since it's only 3 hours a day do I call it 3/8 daycare or do I assume a 10 hour day and call 3/10 daycare?
