They're running 4-6 weeks right now (according to DOS site), but yeah, we should just it in case.

I flew Iceland Air from BWI last time and found it was fine. The planes, at least then, were kind of old, but the food was tolerable and service was good. The small connecting airport was not very stressful at least!

OK, got to talk to DH and decide if we can pull the trigger. He's still nailing down his work plans, so I haven't been able to actually book tickets, yet.

You can try WOW air, but there are a lot of restrictions, and they may be too difficult to manage with a 3-yo.

Connecting through Iceland is probably the cheapest you will find...unless you are up for flying Turkish air (also tends to be cheaper than the major airlines).
