Yup, because those traits are boooooorrrriiiing. Women need excitement and are genetically predisposed to multiple partners.
We all are. Decades of monogamy is bullshit.
The problem is, open marriages often have problems. A wife is going to find willing partners just by breathing. So there is an inherent imbalance. Then you run into the issue that sexual performance is such an insecurity for many people that adding others to the relationship is a time bomb.
Probably the best solution is to find a couple in the same boat and swap. That way, everyone is getting action.

I'm not speaking for my current self. My wife is a fox and she turns me on completely. But when I was young so many of my friends would say things like, "That girl wants you. Who cares if you don't like her. Just get some."
If that works for some, great. But I don't get it, personally.
