Kobe Misono Teppanyaki at the top of the Simitomo building in Tokyo. Our own private chef and dining room. Food brought out alive before to show how fresh it is. Best Kobe I ever had. Sigh.

Alinea in Chicago. Inriguing cuisine, impeccable service, thoughtful and generous (even at half pours) wine pairings. Highlight of the meal was the chef, Grant Achatz, preparing (and deconstructing) our dessert on our tabletop. Simply fabulous!

I'm so underwhelmed by places like Inn at Little Washington. They're nice enough, but they never really do anything for me. I always feel like I'm supposed to like it just because it's fancy and expensive.

Followed closely by the extravagant, multi-course engagement dinner my FIL made for us at his (sadly now closed) restaurant in New England. It was over 20 years ago, and my father still raves about that dinner.

Went to Noma in Copenhagen. Quite an experience.

But, Manfred and Vin, a restaurant run by a Noma alum, also in Copenhagen, was even better. Sat at the bar and had an amazing meal with wines paired by the wonderful sommelier.

A great food city!

I loved tea and breakfast, but I thought the dinner service was too stiff.
