How much did the cruise cost?

I've been to Nassau before and didn't want to deal with the heat/hawkers. The excursions were expensive and I thought something like Atlantis would be wasted on a little kid. Also I'd heard that you wait forever just to get to the excursions. The ship was relatively quiet -- we hung out by the pool, had lunch at one of the sit-down restaurants, had fun at the kids club (we went with the kids). I'm glad we did it that way.

They actually have a good system. Parents need to have their pictures taken and have a "key word" to pick the kids up. The kids get a wristband that has some sort of GPS so the staff knows exactly where they are at all times (it's a big club). I wasn't worried about their safety at all. I was more worried they'd be bored or upset.

They actually have a pretty good system. They take pictures of the parents/guardians and require them to have a "keyword" to pick the kids up. And the kids get a wristband with some kind of GPS tracking system so they know where the kids are in the club at all times (it's a pretty big space). I never worried about their safety. I more worried that they'd get bored.

I don't remember exactly as we booked a long time in advance. I don't think there was much of a cost savings but we got a Costco gift card. Yes we could still check in online and use all the Disney website stuff.

I feel sorry for your kids, who will miss out on a lot of fun because you are suffocating them. DD had a ball in the Disney cruise kids' club.

Not OP and never have gone on a cruise with the kids yet (really want to do a Disney Cruise within the next few years though..) but I don't see this as being any different than doing a drop off dance/music/sports/arts class or dropping off at daycare. But, no I would not freak out. At all. People in this world, believe it or not, really are good-natured and not everyone is out to ruin your lives. Or your kids' lives for that matter.

I did not realize you could book a Disney cruise through Costco. Were the savings large? Can you still call Disney and check in normally online?

How was going through costco to get tix? I've always wondered about going through costco for cars and vacations.

We're headed on one in 2 weeks with a 3 year old. I'm hoping she likes it - at least enough for us to go to the adult only restaurant one night.

She seemed to be the youngest one there (at 3.5). They have a dozen computers but they were too complicated for her, and it's not like the kids get one-on-one attention. Both girls did an art project one night so I know she did some things, but I don't think she took full advantage. If you want to make sure they have fun, be sure to go to the open houses when parents are allowed and explore together. That way you can meet the counselors and figure out what's age appropriate.
