Subject: I'm at an urgent care place, and the Dr stepped out to call someone about me

Woke up with what looked like a pin prick size scab on my shin with a pale pink irregularly shaped ring around it on Sunday. By that evening, it went from pale pink to dark red and looked like a burn. Burns and itches. Benadryl and anti itch creams didn't work (might have made it worse). Slightly swollen. No pimples or puss. By this evening it looked worse. Larger. Pale pink ring around the irregularly shaped dark red.
Doesn't look like a tick bite. Doesn't look like a spider bite. Doesn't look like Mrsa.
No fever. No chills.
Anyone had a really bad bite that turned deep dark red and looked like a burn?
No bruising, no purple or black (like a spider bite).
I know she was trying to help, but she was young and it was a little frustrating. She didn't even mention Mrsa until I asked if it could start out looking like this (that's when she left the room and made a call). And now I'm on f'in bactrim. Dammit.
It's urgent care. They call it that for a reason. The doctor saw you, she gave you the best diagnosis she could based on meeting you this one time and symptoms you described. If you feel it's not correct and you are still feeling poorly or are concerned, go to the ER. If not, call your own doctor for a follow up appointment in the morning.

Did you get tested for Lyme. It often goes undetected.

I'd see another doctor before I took the Bactrim. A lot of people get a horrible allergic reaction to it. It's a sulfa drug and it was the worse reaction of my life. Then when I started telling people about it, many had a similar story.

Did you post about your rash already. You've had it since last Tuesday and it has been migrating? In not Just wondering what happened to that OP.
I'm OP of the migrating rash post, but not this one! PA diagnosed as mysterious hive-like whatever and put me on 6 days of prednisone, which I don't really want to take, but 60mg later I am no longer clawing at my flesh so maybe he was on to something.
glad to hear you are OK other OP. Been there with the prednisone. It's not so bad. Glad you are feeling better.

Did you post about your rash already. You've had it since last Tuesday and it has been migrating? In not Just wondering what happened to that OP.

Mine looked almost like someone burned me with a cigarette. Started out light pink and just kept getting worse. It turned purplish then almost black. I don't remember there being pus, but it did form a scab. The first bite wasn't that bad. The second one almost required surgery. I didn't feel the spider bite me either time, but I did see it both times.

Sounds like a brown recluse bite. Google image that and see if it looks like yours. They can be very mild to very, very dangerous.

I'm picking up the scrips just in case, but I think I'll go see my regular doctor tomorrow...he will tell me whether or not to take the bactrim. I'll let you know what he says...who knows, maybe she's right?

I had a really odd bug bite a few years back. I remember the doctor saying that unless I had seen what had bitten me it would be hard to tell just from the bite. She was trying.
But I know that when you are waiting it can be frustrating.
