I'm not 11, but sometimes if I am having REALLY bad reaction (my main allergy symptom is a headache that ibuprofen, etc won't get rid of) I will take two doses of Claritin per day. My DH also does this at the start of allergy season, and then tapers off to the once per day dosage. Was this an allergist, or just a pediatrician?
