No, the mat doesn't get really soggy. Mine is made of some weird material that the water almost beads up on the surface and dries really fast.

It's not a solution for someone who does lots of dishes every day, but if you wash 2 or 3 items a day, or the occasional big pan or something, it is perfect.

When possible, I try to tip things like water bottles up a bit to let air flow in them (like I will tilt the bottle so it is up a bit using the lid, or on a knife I'm washing, or something). iIf I'm not washing anything else to tip it up a little bit, I' start with it face down and then after a little while flip it up so the inside dries completely. Works fine.
