Same here. I thought it would be this huge, rite-of-passage occasion and in retrospect, it seems really silly that I made it into such a big deal.

Age 9 for my DD worked well.

funny thing, she begged for so long & it was a 9th bday present. Day comes and I tell her I'll drive her to claire's . . . and she chickens out. Took another 3 months before she was sure she would do it.

When they are responsible enough to take care of them. For mine it was 8.

This for me. Revised down from 16. I think my dad initially didn't realize that the holes could close back up.

I had my daughters ears pierced when she was a newborn less than 1 month old by her pediatrician at that time. My beautiful daughter is now 20 years old. No problems with her ears of course except now I have a problem with the many piercings and tattoes that she has!!!

I had mine done at 25.
It really doesn't matter.

Widen your horizons, OP.

Thanks for the inspiring, life-changing advice. I'll be sure to do that, immediately.

My DD is 10 and I've told her she can do it whenever she wants to. But so far, she has no interest. My parents made me wait until I was 16 (because my sister had it done at 13 and didn't take care of them - thanks, sis!) and I HATED being made to wait until I was so "old".

They're talking about right after the ears are pierced - gently washing the holes with salt water and such. It was seriously no big deal for my kids to do it.

Yep, my tomboy wanted earrings and got them a few months before turning 11. She's still a tomboy, currently sporting purple Mickey Mouse earrings (that I think are horrendous but whatever).

I got mine done at 10 or 11; my mom had said 13, I believe, but then my cousin who is 5 years younger got hers pierced so I got to do it as well.

How horribly manipulative.

And judgemental.
