My 5 yr. old DS sleeps only in his underwear. He gets really hot at night and prefers minimal clothing. But he also prefers to walk around the house like this. He never outgrew the naked toddler stage.

I hate clothes, so that's why I do it. Not only do I sleep naked, but I take my pants off almost immediately after walking in the door. The bra comes off next and the shirt most days manages to stay on till I go upstairs to shower for bed. On days I work (3/week), I take my scrubs off in the laundry room as I walk in (laundry room is off the garage) and put one of my husband's tshirts on till I go shower.

Why not follow the lead of your son and give it a try to see for yourself? What could be the harm?

Easiest way to find out is to do it.

Sleeping in pajamas feels like I am wearing clothes to bed. Started when I left college.

I started around 12 or 13. For me, it was just a rite of passage - I now had privacy in my room, so I wanted to sleep the way adults slept (or at least how I imagined they slept). Still do to this day. It just feels wonderful and relaxing.

OP. He knows something so mundane wouldn't "shock" me. He's really doing it.

What is shocking about sleeping naked? Seriously, help us understand how this is an odd choice? For some people, it feels better than having pjs on. Not a big deal.

Why would a kid do that? Once you get all the way down to boxers, no sense in stopping there.

This have these things now called robes, super easy to grab and go in an emergency

For me it's just plain fun, in the most innocent sense possible. Who doesn't like to be naked when they can get away with it?

It makes it easier for 15 year old boys to engage in their favorite -- uhm -- activity

It just feels great, especially for men, to let everything hang free and slide around against the sheets. Healthy males spend about half their night with a fully hard erection, which is just a natural part of REM sleep, and it's a lot more comfortable if it's just free to go wherever it wants without being pent up.

I always go to bed in PJs and wake up in just panties.

Apparently, I get overheated in my sleep.
