My family has a wooden crib from the 1960's that has held up just fine.

seems like most people on this board are anti Iron Crib. I am surprised that no one uses them.

I would think that iron cribs would sturdier and last longer--surely less likely to wear if you move or have many children using it. Just an opinion.

We had a Restoration Hardware wood crib and loved it. It was made by Bassett and far more sturdy than Ikea or the Graco one my mom had at her house. Two things I spend money on due to safety is car seats and cribs.

My aunt's iron crib was struck by lightening. It came in through the window and hit one of the iron posts. She had life long heart problems and died of a heart attack in her 30's, although its not clear that was related to the lightening strike. Something to think about.
