? It was a fad several years ago and never among high school girls - just Hollywood actresses like Michelle Williams (who looked great in that cut, btw) and Keira Knightly.
I think your DD's reaction to the anti-ballet look is actually very healthy, OP. We all need to keep a close eye on changes and attitudes of our teenage daughters but I honestly wouldn't worry about this one -- and I am a supreme worrier!

As you said, she has had a lot of transitions, and 16 is not an age where you move gracefully away from all your friends and previous routine! I moved several times to different countries as a child, and the teen move was quite difficult.
Do you have a good relationship? Be extra watchful and nurturing for a while.
