Some of these idiots actually chose your post to fulfill their need to do so. I didn't even notice that is was the pet forum you wrote in (which is the place to do it-as you did), and I instantly knew what you were talking about...because you indicated DOG. So, I am SORRY for the other comments. My dogs are my babies, too, and I grieved when I lost them- and really the hard part is that so many people don't really understand the loss and here you are walking around with such a loss- but so many do.
So, the way we ended up with subsequent pets is the idea that our lost dog would have wanted us to care for another dog the way they were cared for. But you can wait awhile. Plant a plant or tree if you can, and water and care for it and think about your friend until you are ready to look at rescue sites again. If not, make a scrapbook of photos to help you with the memories, ot just frame one special picture to keep and look.
Sending you a hug and apologies if anyone made it more painful today.Wishing you well.
Jeff edited the title. It initially said "My baby died today", which was rather jarring to those who found the post through "Recent Topics".
That said, sympathies to you, op.

Yes
OP is rude
I don't think OP realizes that a lot of folks look at posts in the "Most Recent" frame, so this title seems very insensitive because you see the subject header first and (maybe) see the "board topic" later.
Then maybe people should look at the forum before they click on a recent topic, so it doesn't offend them.
It's not about being "offended," PP. it's being thrown into devastation and turmoil, before you can even catch that OP is talking about a dog. Insensitive and lacking in awareness in the extreme.
