OP, we were wondering the same thing for this 4th (mostly for our dog), but were pretty convinced that the more rural retreats would be filled with hill billies launching rockets. Maybe go more urban in a luxe hotel with great sound reducing windows? The hotels in Times Square (gross I know) have amazing windows and you can't hear any of the nonsense below.

Maybe the OP is actually a poodle.

OP, I know a lot of dogs have trouble with fireworks, have your owners get some tranquilizers from the vet.

Nope. We go to my in-laws almost every July 4th. Fireworks go off all night there too. Agree with flying to Canada!

We had fireworks all week every night--not just on the 4th. My preschooler was pretty upset by it and cranky all week due to not being able to sleep with the banging. I wish it were just one night of fun!

Wasn't quiet in the mountains. Spent the weekend in Shenandoah Valley in the sticks and there were fireworks going until about 1am.

Ha! My parents live the Poconos in PA where fireworks are illegal and they were going off all night!

We camped in a state park. They had a fireworks show over the lake. (Controlled, though -- no personal fireworks).

You can now, alas, though they don't sell the huge quantities that they do in VA. It's much quieter, and they don't seem to set them off for weeks before and after the actual holiday.
