I especially love carpet in the bedroom. Soft, cozy, comfy.

Nope - it's the ick factor. Carpet is disgusting.

Exactly. There is no way to actually clean it and grossness lives beneath and within.

Y'all must have really dirty feet to be creating all that grossness. Now we know.

No, it isn't the amount of dirt as much as the fact that it traps anything that is in the environment and there is no way to clean it. God forbid those with pets and small kids. Those with carpet in the bathroom are just nasty.

Hate carpet--so hard to get truly clean. Ew.

I removed dirty Berber carpeting (previous owners had dogs) in our upstairs, and put in a soft frisée carpet on stairs and kids' bedrooms. My kids are under 5, so they soend a lot of time on the floor. We love it. Yes, in my perfect world hard woods would be nice, but it would have been very expensive to do in the first months of ownership and the noise would have driven me nuts.

Mine too! AND carpet covered toilet seat lids! Double Eww!

Same ones since we started dating back in 1991. My husband always remembers them being there. Yuck, yuck, yuck!

This is exactly the type of stuff my in-laws do instead of having a social life. But these would be on top of the permanent wall-to-wall carpet.

Anonymous wrote:I love hardwoods. I also have foot problems and wear shoes in the house, but still have to have hardwoods. I like the look of good area carpets on the hardwood floor as well. Somehow, wall to wall carpet never seems clean to me.

HOWEVER, two of my neighbors prefer wall to wall carpet - one is a man in his sixties and one a woman in her thirties.

That's disgusting (30 year age gap?) So is the carpet.

Anonymous wrote:Me too!!!!!! I'm honestly over hardwoods. We're living in a rental and it drives me nuts to have to be worrying about stupid scratches and dings. I definately prefer carpeting in the bedrooms and honestly wouldn't mind it in a living room either. I like tile in the kitchen and baths.

carpet gets damaged and doesn't last as long.

I totally prefer carpet. But that's usually discussed in a different forum.

Nope. I prefer hardwoods and tile in the public spaces, but carpet in the bedrooms.

We replaced our old carpet with new soft carpet and great underlay. We even put a shag type in our bedroom! It took months to decide because everyone seems to like hardwood. If we planned to sell soon, we would have done hardwood, but we just like the warm, soft carpet. We have tile in bathrooms, kitchen, entrance and laundry room. I vacuum daily and we have a steam cleaner.

My parents had carpet in their bathroom and a low pile carpet in their kitchen in the 70,s/80's - ewwww!

We have and prefer carpet in our bedrooms. We also have carpet in our family room and home office. Love it.
