It's really weird to me. I have teens and recently, when I am driving, I notice the kids in the back do not have seat belts. I make them buckle, but I say... You are not 3 years old buckle, I should not have to tell you that, then they unbuckle while I am driving. I really don't get it.

If the passenger in the front seat survived with only minor injuries and the crash was as crazy as described above (with the passengers killed instantly), obviously the passenger and driver had seat belts on. Otherwise, there's no question they would be dead too.

You're still the parent.

Because I do that, you do that, we all DO THAT. But kids do dumb things and they need to have the skills and confidence to extricate themselves from these situations. Screaming no will not make underage drinking go away or be any less alluring. It will still be there whether you want it to be or not.

What needs to stop are the parents who are allowign their children to drink at home because it is "safer". In fact, in past threads, several DCUMers have stated they agree with this and don't think teens drinkin in the basement, with adults home, is a big deal.

It was for those four boys and their families.

I've heard they were invited, I've heard they crashed a sleepover, I've heard it was a huge party, but every story states the father was home and was fully aware the kids were drinking.

Hopefully this will be a lesson to the parents who want to be "cool" and knock some sense into them.
