I find it slightly less awkward than running to CVS for condoms.

This sounds like my DH. When I've asked him to get stuff for me, he's never embarrassed, but is very focused in order to get the right specifications. He once called me from the cvs very concerned because there were only boxes of tampons with multiple sizes (super, regular, etc) instead of just the regular I asked for.

I have gotten a little impatient when trying to purchase condoms that were behind the counter. That's more of a personal choice and if they're behind the counter it's hard to see all of the differences between them. Because of modern technology they sure have changed over time!
I haven't needed condoms for years but back when I bought them I would never get them from a place that had them locked up and forced you to flag down someone to open the case, and then they'd have to stand there and wait for you to pull out the ones you wanted all the while thinking..."oh, a ribbed man." That process actually was a bit embarrassing.

yeah IME what makes men most nervous about stuff like this is getting the wrong one of something in one of those aisles where there's a million options. A friend who worked in a pet store said she often dealt with men who came in with the empty litter bag so they wouldn't get it wrong.

When you get to be a certain age you cease caring what clerks might or might not think about you. If I need hemorrhoid cream I'll slap the stuff down on the counter and buy it and not care a whit if the teenage goof gets a snicker out of it. Better than an itchy butt. They'll get theirs one day.

I would say mildly embarrassing at worst, like when I buy condoms or lube. He would only get annoyed if I didn't give him specific instructions about which to get. Even I get overwhelmed by the options sometimes.

Oh, please grow up. I'll never forget going on a college tour with my dad when I was in 11th grade. I miscalculated the dates and got my period. Totally unprepared.
I asked my dad to get some pads, and he was a champ. No embarrassment. No shame. It's just life.

So long as you tell me specifically what pads/tampons to buy I don't see what the big deal is. DW has only asked me a couple of times in 20 years though. She probably figures it's not something I'd be anxious to buy, or more likely she figures I'd be too stupid to buy the right thing.
