I understand what you're saying because we're in a similar situation. I'm tempted to use DS1's middle name for DS2's first name but feel like this might be a little weird... It's a family name and not unusual at all, but still I don't re-using it.
Leo is a stand alone name.

Leo is nice, but is it short for Leonard or Leonardo? Seems strange as total stand-alone.

Same problem here -- took us 2 days to name #2 boy. DH gave me a list of 4 he could live with and it was up to me to pick. I narrowed it to 2, Then sat there staring at the baby for a long time, and asking him -- "What's your name?" -- hilarious! Finally, the shadow of freckles I could already see across the bridge of his nose told me the answer -- I picked the Irish sounding name of the two I had left.
FWIW -- I like Leo.

OP here, our first also ends in an -o which is why Leo seemed a little "flowy" as well (I know what you mean...-o and -o). But ultimately, it is his name. Does it need to sound good with his last name AND his brothers' names? Maybe not...

Right there with you for boy #3! We have a Milo already, great name . We kind of like Elliot... like Eli better. Love Leo, but a little to flowy with a brother named Milo. Boy names are hard... either too common, too preppy, too ethnic, or just too out there with not much in between unlike girl names.

On the upside, you know you both like "L" names. I really like Leo. Elliot is cool too. I know a cool little Ellis.
