Anonymous wrote:Can Racine go after CM McDuffie sending his two kids in DCPS? Rumors are circulating that he's living in PG county himself.
Anonymous wrote:So what was the impetus to send their kids to school here? Aren't there plenty of fine schools in the suburbs?
and It's not like the parents were commuting into DC -- they were cops in the suburbs.
Anonymous wrote:Until now, I was under the impression that all the Maryland plates at D.C. schools exist merely to save money on auto insurance. Now, I'm going to have to reassess...everything.
Anonymous wrote:Ooops. I know another residency cheating cop who lives in MD and sends his child to a sought after DCPS school. I'll forward this to him and watch him rationalize it.
Anonymous wrote:I don't like people that break the law or break the rules, especially when you're a cop. However, with that said, DC has gotten unreasonably unaffordable due to so many bourgeousie moving in. And yes that is a positive in many ways--more Dior stores, for example--now there's one in the City Center AND right over the line with MD. But, it's not a good sign that many of our working class families that we want to protect us and our valuables as well teach our children (let alone mow our lawns, cook our food, provide daycare to our children) either can't live here or have to live in a yucky area that we would never want to live in willingly.

On a related note, I am a little sad that many working class families (especially ones that serve our communities) can't afford to live in the city. Read article today that average 1 bedroom in DC is $2,000. Not condoning the officers.
Cops make enough to live in the city, for christsakes. Ft Dupont, Deanwood, Michigan Park - there are DC cops living all over this city.
plus it's a lieutenant and sergeant - not exactly low rank either
