Genetically Modified, variant 13.

Those people often don't give any money away, so OP is telling us how generous she is.

Helpful translator, are you the one who explained what a beagalier is way back when?

I love you.

Nope, sorry.

Now I have to look that up

Found it. Very funny

I would do $1000 at the very least for a godchild.

Ridiculous! Most of us cannot afford to be this generous and $100 is more than enough.

Glad I didn't answer with what we actually gave our three godchildren for their graduation.

My sister suggested sending next day flowers and overnighting the check since I did not incur any traveling expenses. I decided to send $100 check (for savings) and $100 AMEX card.

Thanks to all.

Close... But no. GM-13 stands for General Manager grade 13. It's a govt pay scale - like GS scale.

I agree. You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders. The world needs more people like you. The world needs more godparents like you! I have two children in desperate need of a good godparent, would you like the job?

I gave $100 to my nieces and nephews when they graduated, and that was 10+ years ago. I also sent flowers to my nieces.

There are all sorts of relationships with godchildren that would factor in to how generous a gift giver would want to be. I have 3 godchildren - my cousin (I was 15 when he was born), my only niece, and a college friend's child we never see. My relationship with all is vastly different.

That said, the only thing that is important is the thought behind the gift and the graciousness of the recipient. I hope my child would appreciate the message behind a $10 gift - that someone is proud of you and thought enough of you to send you a gift.

I think that's very generous.

That's absolutely absurd. $100 is fine.
