Funny. I have a 9 year old boy and the kids barely eat anything at his birthday parties. And it's always pizza and cake.

My 7 almost 8 year old son will eat 2 regular sized pieces of pizza and 3 double cut piece. I'd plan to have pizza for the parents too. I'd probably order 8, but I prefer to have too much food than not enough.
