Vacation then. Call it a damn vacation. Yes its about "me". All vacations are. There is no need to spend one's life searching for pet peeves.

It's July, so skip the Caribbean (it's going to be just as hot if not hotter than DC). I would go to Bar Harbor and stay at Bar Harbor Inn and Spa. Gorgeous. And there is truly incredibly food up there. Fly to Portland (1 hour ish flight direct from DCA) then drive to Bar Harbor. You could even stop along the way overnight for a night in one of the towns (Booth Bay, etc.)

In July I'd go somewhere that won't be as hot as it will be here! Maine sounds great, or anywhere north. What about Aspen?

Maine would be great. Beautiful, good food, no passport required.

You might also enjoy an NC mountain resort in the Blue Ridge or Great Smokey Mountains. Asheville is a fun town to visit, too.
