Why is that your hope? Because I'd expect you to actually know the important ins and outs of the school system to which you're applying?

Seem pretty reasonable to me.
Translation: I have no plan. Like everything else, I'll figure it out once I get there and have 300 other things to worry about. But don't worry, I'll have lots of meetings with lots of people to help figure it all out. Later. Once I'm there. And in it.

Would I expect her to have a working understanding of the most divisive issue facing DCPS parents before she agreed to lead the largest high school? Um, yes.

This really bothered you? You expect her to know how our crazy boundary/lottery system works one day after she was selected for the job?
Yes I do expect her to know when she is interviewing for a job how the system works in the district where she is interviewing. That is basic research for any job interview. Maybe she misspoke and meant she doesn't know where they will live yet or haven't made a decision for him. But to say I am not sure how the District thing works is a bit unsettling considering the school she is going to. This is a major issue she is coming into and at the school she is going to lead.

I took personal issue with that. As a parent, that would be one of the first things I'd know--particularly as the parent of an AA make teen moving into a dangerous inner city (from Aspen no less!). In fact I'd try to negotiate his attendance at Wilson as part of my contract. What if he's inbound for Anacostia or Ballou??!! Rhee certainly knew where she was sending her kids before she got here.
