I would think Crestwood and other EOTP feeders would lose out first. Hearst send maybe 35 kids per year.

^^ possibly -- this is why I don't subscribe to the move early plan. For example I'd hate to have purchased on the south side of Albermarle for Murch only to see it rezoned for Hearst. We'll suck it up and move when and if necessary

I think you need to be realistic about how much of a pain a commute from ward 6 to ward 3 would be, especially during elementary school. Better to stay where you are if you are happy and then move IB for middle school.

The solution to this problem is having more middle, upper-middle class families commit to Ward 6 middle schools. The population is there, but it will be very difficult to build up those numbers are Jefferson, Eliot-Hine, and Stuart-Hobson.

Exactly. It was discussed in the latest round of rezoning and I would not be surprised if it comes to pass sooner than later.

I also think being able to follow the feeder pattern from OOB won't be around much longer either.

OP, less and less people will be leaving in mid-elementary, so I think the ability to lottery in later is going to disappear in a couple years. I wouldn't count on it.

I live in Ward 6. My child attends a Deal feeder. We lotteried in for an older grade.



OP here again... Did you have to try year after year at the Deal Feeder? If so, which grade did you start?

Not sure what you are asking for...if you want to attend Deal you basically need to move IB. There is no magic formula otherwise.
