I agree with the previous poster. We are enrolled going to MV and not as concerned as DCUM thinks we should be about the environment based on this thread.

When my DC was in daycare he was bitten, repeatedly, by the same child. Turns out this child also bit other children in the classroom. As the parents discussed the situation, we realized that the school had enlisted psychologists, shadow teachers, behavior role modeling with the entire class- and yet we were not informed that this was happening. Learning that the situation was being addressed was what helped us move forward thru the situation and have a good rest of the year. Privacy laws are very strong with minors.

From my interaction with current parents as well as with the school itself, I feel that the issues are being addressed, just not out in the public which is not necessarily the best way to address these behavioral issues.

3rd grade is hard everywhere. Lots of testosterone churning around in little boys bodies, testing starts and cliques start to form. From my experience with 3rd graders, everyone starts to become hyper aware of who is "cool" and who is not.

With respect to how the school is handling it, schools are not allowed to discuss corrective actions because there are children involved and frequently the bully has family issues or learning issues that make the situation complicated. So frequently the parents of the bullied kid perceive that the school "isn't doing anything" when in reality they are working hard on addressing the situation. But, just like personnel matters at someone's job should be confidential, disciplinary actions at schools are supposed to be confidential.

I have no children at Mundo Verde, but I do have 3rd graders elsewhere in the school system. I think it should be noted that bullying is complicated and discussing the repercussions thereof on a public forum should be handled with extreme care - these are minors we are talking about.

Geez, it's like if we don't discuss the bullying it's like it never happened. My WASP-y grandmother would be proud. Yes, it is good for parents who are considering MV to know if there is a problem, and if so what the school is doing about it. "Trust us, we've got it" isn't good enough. So what has the school done?

I'm not OP but maybe they are not trolling. He/she said they are not a parent there but they may be considering the school. Why not ask this question. I would be concerned if it it was a school I was interested in enrolling my child in.

There is a problem, and the school is addressing it. Turns out, kids are hard and there are no simple solutions.

Hang in there 370!! We were 390 last year and got in this year for prek4 (and are very excited to go!)

Like every school, MV has some problems. I think this thread is fine because it's important for potential parents to know about stuff like this. But here is my takeaway- the school is doing something about it. That's a huge plus in my book.

A big issue parents have been having is school wasn't notifying parents/victims when it's been occurring.
