I don't think anyone is opposed to updating TJ's facilities.
But I think they could have postponed/cancelled the rotunda and used the money where it is actually needed.

TJ gets turned into a mini-U.Va. while FCPS leaves FCHS in this squalid condition. Absolutely and completely shameful.

Outstanding. So can we get our $68 million back?

WOW! I heard Falls Church High School was in need of repairs but had no idea. There is a movement to get this school to the top of the list for repairs. I don't know why they have waited so long.

It also looks a little like something near Charlottesville. Imagine that. It's worth noting as well that private funding is a factor for at least some of TJ's bells and whistles. See tjpartnershipfund.org
It would take a lot of imagination to think that tacky, hideous thing grafted onto a mid-1960s school building looks like anything at U.Va.
The fact that TJ takes private contributions to subsidize and perpetuate the inequities in FCPS only makes matters worse. It reduces the pressure to adequately fund the renovations that ought to take precedence at needier schools, if you can point to a shiny new science lab at TJ. Too bad that no corporation is providing matching funds to renovate other schools. You can shove your "tjpartnershipfund" up your ass.
