Most likely true. This was taken from her resignation letter to her current school District on May 12th.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think they're voted onto those boards by the community in an open election for which any parent at the school can run. Maybe some do that but I haven't heard of (m)any.

Charter Board membership and selection process varies by charter (not shocking). Also some are more open than others.
