I think it depends on where in that price range you are, and where you are located geographically. In our neighborhood, a $1.5 million house would not have a very nice kitchen, and it would not matter what your stove looked like. For $1.5 million, you expect there to undesirables aspects with the house. A $2 million house would be a whole other ball of wax - likely new construction and should have a fancy stove.

We have an NXR range from Costco. Their 30" model is about $2k. I know a Wolf/Viking is probably built better, but it's built well enough for us, and it certainly works just as well.

FWIW, I'm sure only people who care about these things are chiming in. There are probably a LOT of people who want a nice house and can afford 1.5 million but who don't care about how fancy their range is. I'm cook a lot and love to do it (though I'm not in your price range). And I know several people who live in million-dollar-plus houses who are normal cooks. Neither they nor I would demand a Viking or a Wolf or whatever.

If the kitchen is small anyway, I think you can go with a mid-range appliance, as long as it visually doesn't look out of place or "cheap." But that's just me. . .
