Liatris (spp) is great too

This is a list for Michigan, but a lot of the plants will work here. List by plant and type of butterflies.

This is a great plant for butterflies. It is always covered with them when in bloom.
Buttonbush. It attracts the big ones!

Also New Jersey Tea

The trick is to have a mix of plants that bloom throughout the season early spring to late fall. Also, different size flowers attract different butterflies, moths, and bees. One thing that is cool is checking the garden out at night. There are so many moths.

Swallowtails love rue, which is sold at many farmers markets this time of year.
