Newbie here: what kind of services/classes would school provide for someone with high functioning Aspergers? Social skills? Help with processing speed?

Get on the waitlist for a private neuropsych evaluation. When you move here, choose a school like Bethesda elementary and ask them to evaluate your child to get the IEP process going. The school system has 90 days to evaluate, decide whether your child qualifies for an IEP, and come up with an IEP, supports & services, if she has a disability that has "educational impact".
Once you get a private neuropsych, you can always tweak the IEP to best support your child.
FYI, Dr. Black attends IEP meetings and helped us get an awesome IEP for DS.

I was able to get in at CNMC within three months earlier this year. They take insurance. I think they would be your best bet for something soon. In the meantime, we got evals from an OT and SLT and started those therapies.

Dr. Black has six month wait, I called recently. He will give you bill w codes to submit out of network.

Does not take insurance. We had a recent evaluation and the cost was $4400. My kid has ASD/Asperger's and Dr. Black also diagnosed him with ADHD, combined type, which was missed by three other evaluators. Worth every penny, IMHO.

I have a 7 yr old with ASD/ADHD and my suggestion would be that you contact Kennedy Krieger, Children's, Stixrud, etc and make an appointment for an neuropsych evaluation. It can take up to 6 months to get an appointment. We use Dr. Black and recommend him highly but he does not take insurance: You will have to pay out of pocket and file with your insurance for reimbursement.
Ask the tester to send you the teacher forms now instead of sending them close to your appointment so your DD's current teachers can fill them out instead of starting new when you get to the U.S.
With the right supports and services at school, your child's behavior can improve greatly. Mine did. Hang in there.

OP, It will most likely take months and months to get an appt.
Sometime in August may already be booked. I think that Kennedy Kreiger was running 9 months at one point.
Plan ahead.
As someone who went down this track with an sensory issues/ADHD/ASD kid and was told "he gets great grades and is bright...needs nothing" by the school, you will want to get a solid evaluation and diagnosis in hand ASAP.

You should definitely get on the waiting lists now. School will already have begun by the time you are actually seen at one of the big centers like: Kennedy Krieger (part of Johns Hopkins) or Children's National Medical Center. People tend to choose one of these centers because they take most insurance plans. Private practices can be hot or miss on whether they take any insurance at all. Testing can run into the thousands of dollars.
There will be many forms: parent and teacher questionnaires, medical history, etc.

Quite true - I didn't mean fly back tomorrow literally. But OP could make an appointment now and start the wait. All I wanted to convey was could she come back here to get the testing done ASAP before the big move.

I'd say that flying back tomorrow probably wouldn't do you any good, because you'll then wait months and months for your appointment at any of the really good neuropsych testing places around here. Just call now and get the appointment scheduled! We like David Black at CAAT but others around here have said great things about Stixrud, Kennedy Krieger, and others. The waits are long...
