Not the PP, but my DC got letters and postcards from them showing that with his GPA and scores he would get a nearly free ride. Not sure how many there pay sticker price.

Our youngest got the letters from OU and Bama. He was already down the road at an Ivy, but the acceptance letter had not yet arrived. To make it a more even playing field, we offered to gift him half of the savings from the Ivy versus the free ride at OU or Bama if he graduated cum laude or better. He had STEM interests, but ultimately decided on the Ivy route. While the economic impact is substantial, I think the relative newness of the Honors opportunity at OU/Bama made the Ivy choice easier for him. Thinking that he would likely come back to the DC area, he felt the Ivy connections were more attractive. Perhaps we should have shown him the sorority video I saw mentioned above. No looking back.

Football coaches?

I went to an SEC school and wouldn't trade it for HYP. Loved everything about it and it was my happiest 4 years. Because my school was so huge, I've met alumni from all over and it's popped up in weird places. My current boss is an alumni so that was a happy surprise during my interview. And I didn't take out student loans and made money off of scholarships.

Timely thread - DS who is a rising senior will be talking to one of the coaches today. If he is offered a scholarship it would be hard to turn down...
