[quote=Anonymous]You know being in aap makes no difference, right? Kids can choose their own honors classes from middle school on.

All well and good but we're happy with the program. A lot of parents are looking for a good experience for our kids in the here and now. AAP is it for many of the families here.

I don't care who is in my child's class in elementary school. MS or HS. I couldn't care less if everyone "catches up" or passes my child from MS forward. At THIS TIME my child is in AAP and really likes it.

So thanks for the continual reminder that it levels out, but the chance for DC to be in the program has been a plus.

Would you reject AAP offer "knowing" it makes no difference?

NP here: No, I wouldn't and didn't (have kids in AAP). For us, it's not just academic reason. It's also that we wanted our kids to be with other kids that think learning challenging thing is fun and exciting, that it IS cool to be smart!

True, all MS will have a choice to take "honor" or regular classes. But then there are classes designated with "AAP" in the center MS that are only available to AAP kids.

Now, having said that, I am NOT implying the "AAP" classes are better or more challenging then Honor classes. All depending on the teachers!

So Yes! Being in AAP is not the end all be all solution for academic.
