The tooth thing at a restaurant is fine if you can do it discretely.

It's not unusual to use sanitizer after washing, by any means. But if you do some googling, you'll find that it's not necessary, and that over use of sanitizer is creating antibiotic resistant bacteria.

Chewing gum after brushing your teeth is fine! It's not uncommon or weird. Maybe he just doesn't like the sound of gum-chewing. I know I HATE the sound usually, and find that when I tell my husband the sound is irritating me, he gets so offended. I think it's weird for him to get so offended, but maybe your boyfriend is trying not to offend you by telling you it's uncommon.

For somebody you've only been with for 6 weeks, yes, he's right that it's bad table manners to pick your teeth at the table. Especially if you're doing it frequently throughout the meal (even if it's only once). Yes, it's good manners to do these things in the bathroom.

So while I don't think either of you is correct on ALL of these issues, I would say you need to dump him. Six weeks is VERY early for a guy to be telling you all the things he doesn't like about you. Who does that? Your bad habits are the kinds of things that are either deal breakers for him...things that he decides he'll just let go...or things he might mention here and there as the months go by.

And since his need to be right really bothers you, well, there you have it. You two needs to break up.

Gum has sugar. You shouldn't chew after brushing your teeth. Use mouthwash if you desire.

This guy is terrible. You don't know each other well enough for him to day these things. One of you should leave the other.

I think he's right about all but the lip gloss. Seriously? None of you do this? I do this all the time, discreetly (no compact or mirror involved).

Okay, he may be right but we all have quirks. It's okay if he's affectionately ribbing you about these things rather than debating you about them to the point that you feel attacked and on the defensive.

I think you should see a doctor about your breath. It is probably something that can be fixed - maybe with a tongue scraper or prilosec? I think your boyfriend is wrong on this one. Bad breath can make anyone feel insecure. If the gum makes you feel better, then go for it.

omg talk about 1st-of-1st-world arguments! You two will never survive when it's something that actually matters! Get rid of him.

For the record, given that everyone seems to say he's right, that might make you the one who won't give in and has to be right. But this is really not the important point.

Finally, on to the first world stuff. google hand-sanitizer; there are problems with it. don't care about the other issues except the lip gloss. Nothing is as ugly as looking at a woman's face when she is looking in a compact, totally self-consumed, and applying lip gloss or lip stick. (ok, maybe not "nothing is as ugly" but it's really very unattractive)

I've got to ask though OP, were you really confused about whether or not it was rude to pick your teeth at the table? Do you really not know that hand sanitizer is what people use when they can't properly wash their hands? That chewing gum after brushing your teeth isn't going to make your breath better? These examples just can't be real.
