I bought an indoor/outdoor for my den because I wanted something flat that chairs could roll over (and they do.) I agree that it won't be very soft for a bedroom and you might prefer something tufted. However, it's not insanely scratchy either so if you want that look, it will be fine.

Some (but not all) of the rugs on the Home Decorators website are also on Overstock.com for much less so double check before you buy anything.
