I do know her and she is not really driven by money. She is really committed to DC. I know she does her best and this is not an easy district given the high income and very low income students. Just dealing with parents is a huge headache before you even get to running the schools.

Rhee was prescient enough to get out before the Potemkin Village she constructed started to collapse under the weight of her own ego and self-promotion. Henderson is operatijg under a different set of circumstances but would get out of she could find a pn alternative. She's done little to distinguish herself and remains hostage in part to Rhee's legacy.

it's not about the yearly salary but the benefit package that can make her move on to greener pastures. Remember it is not what they will pay you to run DCPS, it is what they will pay you to leave DCPS. Ask Rhee for that gravy train of a deal.

Henderson isn't going anywhere anytime soon. She'll be there at least until 2017 (the end of the Capital Commitment) or through the end of Bowser's first term. There are too many things going in the right direction for DCPS for her to leave involuntarily. Sorry if that isn't what you want to hear.

OMG: The governor of California makes $176K versus local CA superintendents making over double that. Once again, we're seeing what a boondoggle slush of funds our public education dollars become when put in the hands of unethical public education "managers." Something must be done to put the money where it matters most, not with the leading "public servants."

In a large city? No. Around here? No. Maybe in bumfuck america.
I don't think bumfuck school district would have 25,000 school kids. Thus, yes, for a large urban city, her salary is on par.

Professional city managers where there is not a strong mayor. That's not DC or most large urban cities. I even looked up Charlotte with a City Management form of government and much cheaper COL - salary is $267K.

There is absolutely no way the Superintendents of Cleveland, Boston, Oakland or even Atlanta school districts make only $130k. If she stays in that vein of work, she will earn in the $200s, though probably not her current salary.
