Changed it to BM Soleil (a yellow) and love it. I realize a lot of people think yellow is awful, so I'm not suggesting that to you (it works very well for the style of our house - old craftsman - and our furniture colors), but I would go with a light warm color of some sort.
Painting something grey intentionally is different than a room looking grey b/c of lack of light. Painting a basement that doesn't get a lot of light grey I don't think would be a good idea in any case.

Some people like grey though?
