Sounds great except for the fact that you live in TX.

Right, but then when you lose your job and have to sell your house, or if you decide to move elsewhere, there's nobody to buy it because $580K is a lot of money almost anywhere but here. In other places, houses often sit on the market for many months, especially if they're considered to be at the top of the market.

I wouldn't mind a 4 car garage. My parents have a 3 car garage and it's great. Space for 2 cars and space for all the gardening stuff.

That community is about 25 miles from downtown Minneapolis, so I guess the DC equivalent would be something like Sterling/Potomac Falls. You'd still pay more than $580K for a new house that big, perhaps $1.2 or 1.3 million. But you also get a shorter commute and colder weather in MN.

behemoth? I live in a slightly larger new home in McLean (5600SF) but they only offered 2 car garages and costs way more.

I would love a 3 or 4 car garage.

So you wouldn't live in a newly renovated home or do any repairs or renovations?

Do you prefer the musty old smell of water damaged homes?

Looks horrible to me -- I'll take my 4-bedroom colonial with neighbors and lots of beautiful old growth trees, and 1-car garage - oh well!

Minnesota is not flyover country...

According to people in DC/NY/LA, anything that is not on the east or west coasts is flyover country.
