As long as it's closed, I think it's okay to have the umbrella upright in the table, unless the storm is expected to bring very strong winds.

Agree. One time Margarita forgot. She had to run out there at the start of the storm and bring it down. She learned her lesson that day, I trust such an oversight will not happen again in the future.

+1 this has worked for us for 25+ years. Very heavy base. Always close it when not in use.Anonymous wrote:Never. I keep it closed and tied (buckled?) closed but leave it up. It's attached to a huge heavy a** base. I've never had an issue (knock on wood).
