Honestly, he sounds fine to me. I'd still get him evaluated because why not? can't hurt but I wouldn't be worried.

Same with my first. He's 6 and totally fine. He was fat then- is your baby on the chunky side? In my personal (limited) experience, thinner babies tend to move better. My second is much leaner, and she moves much better than my first did.

Wait till your 9 month check up and talk to the ped. I would watch it but some kids are just slower to do things and others have a true delay. If you have good insurance, I'd go to a developmental ped and private services (which is what we do) or you can go to early intervention but it is hit or miss depending on who you are assigned.

My baby didn't do any of those things at 8 month. Whatever online quiz you did seems off.

The only thing that sounds delayed is the not rolling. My DS didn't do any of the other things by that age either and he is fine. Ask the doctor at the 9 month appt.

Is it possible that it's fluid in the ears? I am the PP who posted about that earlier and the more I think back, the more I think that the fluid probably caused a lot of her issues possibly including not rolling. if that's a possibility I would get it checked out sooner rather than later. Very easy to detect at a normal ped visit, and important to correct for language development.

Just another one to say: my son didn't start babbling until the verrrrry end of his 9th month. Like, the last few days. I was wigging out. All of his language skills came online at the very end of the normal time window -- or slightly later.

Now, at age 5.5, his language skills are indistinguishable from his peers'. So -- if the given window is 6-9 months, really do wait until the whole window has passed and then some before getting too worried!

8 months old seems too young for any of that stuff except rolling. I think they don't use crawling as a milestone anymore because kids do it at such different times. My daughter crawled really late - well after 8 months. My assumption was that she was either too fat or didn't have any reason to crawl. She started walking at exactly 12 months, talked early and well and hasn't had any issues. She just didn't crawl for awhile.

Maybe your baby is just really chill? Definitely tell the doctor what you're worrying about, but I wouldn't lose a ton of sleep at this point.

Do you have a 9 month well visit coming up? I would just bring it up then. I don't think these concerns even rise to the level of warranting a special visit copay at this point. But certainly bring it up at your next well visit. Good luck!

I think speaking with the pediatrician is a good idea. You can call early intervention in your area without a doctor referral. To qualify for services you need to be a certain percentage delayed.

Sometimes babies can benefit from PT when they're this age and get back on track. It may not require more than that; just something to keep an eye on as your child grows.
