And no -- I don't have this arrangement myself; nor will I ever have it bc my parents don't have that kind of wealth to share.
I imagine the grandparents that are doing this are themselves wealthy and have the savings/investments etc. to be able to pay for their grandkids' private school or college or whatever. It's not like they're working themselves to the bone at Walmart at age 80 to make sure their grandkids are at the right private school.
I just don't see why this concerns anyone -- besides raising some jealousy issues re how other families have it easy financially.

Not OP here, but I met people like this when they bought the house next door to me a few years ago.

I'm new to the private school world, not everyone is like this, but it definitely exists. I know for a fact that grandparents pay for tuition of at least four families I've met, the parents aren't embarrassed about it,
They just told me flat out. I'm just really surprised. I was not raised rich, I didn't know.

If you can't afford your lifestyle, don't live it. I feel less respect for people who use their expected inheritance as their retirement plan. Just a vent. It's totally none of my business, I just felt like letting you all know that I think you are entitled to expect your parents to do this.
My parents don't have any money so I don't run the risk of your disrespect, OP, but I can't imagine that those who do would care, at all, what you think of them. If you're older than 10 and you've had any amount of life experience, you would understand that there are always going to be people who live life differently than you do. When you spend your time thinking about them and being bitter, you're the one who loses.
I agree completely. All this mentality does, OP, is render you bitter and unhappy. I guarantee you no one cares one whit about your opinion on this.
Not OP here, but clearly these PPs are the entitled adults who feel their parents owe them some of the items the OP was talking about. Most likely they still have their vacations, furniture, kids' clothing and entertainment expenses still funded by their parents as well.
My parents are dead, you stupid bitch.
Looks like someone (rude) does care about OP's opinion.

That's called investing now so that they can reap later. I have had to bust my ass for every single milestone and my parents have actually been a stumbling block -- getting me into debt and causing me heartache. They aren't getting shit from me when they age because they haven't earned it. So, I guess my point is that if kids shouldn't expect anything from their parents, then the parents had better not expect anything from their kids.
