I think it was kind of the OP to care about the other people waiting for tables and the possibility of adversely impacting the waitress. Kindness and consideration can be hard to come by these days. Especially on this board.

no, but i was pretty proud of myself picking up the hint (or the possibility of it). it's never easy as a non-native speaker.
