Oh, probably. I'm assuming that it was covered? By the time you wipe it off/vacuum it and put on a mattress cover and sheets....it's not like you'll even be touching it.

You buy clothes and shoes at the store that other people have tried on. And you sit on seats at the movie theater and on the bus which are probably 10X worse.

The upside is that the mattress has already off gassed.

its not "used" if its spent its life in a show room

LOL, I have friends that worked retail at mattress stores. You all have no idea on what they do on those mattresses.....

Well if the mattress was on display + is a steal to purchase, I probably would.

Because in truth, no one can really do anything "gross" in a public store...Am I right...?!?

We did for our guest room. No regrets. Just cover it in a mattress protector and pad. Frankly, I am more skeeved out by hotel beds.

Would anyone think differently if you knew the mattress had been purchased and returned by someone?

Just be sure this is the one you want for certain. Otherwise go ahead!

If the place gets high marks from Mattress Underground - go for it!

She knows her stuff.

I would vacuum it well and wipe with a damp cloth and dry well if not steam clean. Get a dust-mite proof cover that is all cotton. And a good mattress pad.

I assume everyone sleeps in the beds at hotels, yes?
