Me, too. DD is 10 and DS is 7.5 -- I need our nanny and can't see not needing her until DD can drive herself.
+2 We have a part-time sitter just to pick DD, 9, up at school and walk her to ballet and swim team.

My husband coaches and practice times are assigned. He actually leaves work early to make it to a 5:30 start time. You could ask the league director if there is a team that is assigned a later practice.

Agree with PPs you can ask but they are probably limited to field assignments. My older has lacrosse practice at4:15, the first year I asked about the time and the coach was apologetic but said they were confined to that time due to fields. So during Spring I adjust my hours on those days so I can get him to practice. It sucks, but next year he'll be in MS and can walk right out to practice at the end of the school day. I cannot wait.

Sometimes it just depends on what the coach wants. You can put in a request to be on a team with later practice times, but your child might not be on the team with all his or her friends by doing this. We had to switch to a different work schedule ourselves once sports started. It just wasn't worth the hassle of trying to work around them. Once a coach picked up my child to take him to practice which helped.

In our league, you could request to be moved to a team with a later practice. We did it last year-4:00 pm practice time but dd didn't get home on the bus until 4:45!

We [finally] switched clubs after years of 5:00 practice times. We kept thinking as they got older they would move them later, but no, even at U13 they were still getting the 5:00 time slot. I realize the fields are heavily booked, but in our case it was the coach who wanted that time slot and what he wanted was all that mattered. We switched clubs for various reasons, and happily have 6:30 practices. OP may have to do the same.

U6 has two hour-long practices a week? that's excessive. but no you're not going to get the time changed. tell the coach you'll be late for one or both practices but will be there. s/he understands.
