DS is 6 months old. He and his cousin will be 11 months apart.

The kids will probably think it's cool.

They'll think it's cool if OP doesn't make an ass of herself about it. Please just smile and let it be a fun little quirk.

Start calling her unborn child "Teddy JUNIOR!" or "LITTLE TEDDY!" in an excited voice every time you see her. She'll name him something else I guarantee it.

Yeah, just say something really obvious like how you are honored to share the name, just on the off chance that she isn't getting it, and then let it go.

I would think it less weird if she named him Thomas Edward and called him a different nickname. I don't think it's strange when lots of relatives have the same common family name -- John, Sarah, William, whatever -- but that's why you come up with nicknames. Naming him something different and calling him the same nickname is annoying.

That is downright bizarre!

+1. I'm sure others will be talking and she'll regret it.

PP here, I would get some pets and tell her you are naming them all "Teddy". LOL

I wouldn't worry too much, Sometimes kids end up with different names than you plan on. (Fwiw my Teddy had two friends named Theodore, one called Theo, one called Dore) there are two other Teddys at the neighborhood park, they're everywhere!

As much as she has told me, Theodore was not a name she liked for a long time. She says she came across it on a blog. She was pretty convinced that she was having a girl, so they didn't think of boy names until they knew that's what they were having. (Or so they say.)

She's a bitch to do this, but let it go. You can't say anything. She will never forgive you if you do. Let your MIL fight this one.

Dore? Like door?

Yep, he gave himself that nickname. My son was Teetee for a bit. SIL may look at her son and decide he's a Theo, nicknames are funny like that

I like that too! One of the best things about having a teddy is easy availability of "personalized" books and toys

I'm glad you're not looking for advice, because you are being ridiculous about this. Truly you are.
